Strength Training, also known as resistance training, involves any activity that puts a weighted load on your muscles, which stimulates them to become stronger and bigger. It might involve just your body weight, a set of resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells or machines.
Benefits
- Builds muscle strength, which becomes more essential as we age as each decade after age 30 humans lose up to 5 pounds of muscle.
- You can slow down or even reverse the aging process by building muscle mass and strength;
- Increases bone density. Osteoporosis, a condition of accelerated bone mineral loss which leads to fractures, can be a crippling disease. Research on resistance exercises suggests that it can build bone even in the elderly.
- Greater strength can lead to fewer falls, which drastically decreases risk of injury.

I have been training on and off since I was in high school but was never able to fully get the results I wanted from the gym due to a lack of knowledge and poor nutrition.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted sessions with MCX Lifestyle by my mother-in-law and long time client of Marcelo’s. I was at a place in my life where I didn’t feel very great about myself. Hi my name is Tim,
I was referred to Marcelo by my son Kyron who went through a training program with Marcelo to prepare him for the entrance requirements of the BC Wildfire Service. I started working with Marcelo in April, with the initial focus being that we would get the fitness level up and achieve significant weight loss.
I am happy to share that we have made significant strides in both areas. The careful attention that Marcelo has given to my nutritional needs and ensuring that I adhere to these, has been very consistent. The results speak for themselves as I have over three months achieved significant weight loss. This wasn’t pursued for purposes of aesthetics but to ensure that we addressed a pre-diabetic issue.
The process that was followed gave attention to nutrition and lifestyle as well as ensuring that exercise was consistent and followed a very structured and incremental approach.
